HELENSVILLE HOT SPRINGS.
The Hou. R. Heaton Rhodes, Minister of Tourist and Health Resorts, arrived by this morning's train, in company with Mr Wilson, General Manager of the Tourist Department, to inspect the Hot Springs Domain on the suggestion of the Helensville Dotuaid Board, that the Springs should be taken over by the Government, as the local authorities were unable to develope them. It is understood if the Government take over the mineral Springs, they will develope them to a much greater extent than at pre* sent, and being so near Auckland, they should become very popular for bathing purposes. Mr Massey is reported to have stated that he had been informed il that some excellent cures had been effected by the waters of the Holensville Hot Springs, and that they should be developed to a much greater extent." Mr Rhodes, who was met by Mr McLsod (chairman), and members of the Town Board, and several residents was driven to the Springs, and inspected the baths and grounds. He expressed the opinion that there was a great future for the Springs if taken over by the Tourist Department and extensively developed. He was satisfied the money spent so far had been well laid out. Mr Rhodes' attention was also drawn to the state of the swing bridge. Mr Rhodes and party were entertained to lunch at the Terminus Hotel after returning from the Springs. The Party left for Auckland by ihe 3 p.m. express.
