DOUBLE FATILITY
A shocking fatility occurred at Pahi on Saturday evening, by which Mr S. H. Sayers, recently appointed Cleik of the Otamatea County Council, lost his life. He was returning from Pahi about 9 p.m,, with Mr D. Dufaur, elork, of the Natioual Bank, when his horse bolted. The stirrup br >ke, and Mr. Sayers was thrown and killed instantly his neck being broken. Both men's horses were found loose near the body: Mr, Dufaur was seen at Pahi shortly afterwards, on the ivhavii. He <?id not mention the accident to anyone, but subsequently the bank keys were found on'the end of the wharf. There is no trace of Dufaur, and it is surmised that he became temporal ily demented through the accident and committed suicide. ' The funeral of Mr. Sayers took place on Monday, the inquest being held on Tuesday. Mr, D. Dufaur is only 21 years of age, and is the nephew of Mr. Percy Dufaur, of Auckland. The young man was educated at King's College where he was exceedingly popular' and also very successful in various /branches of sport. Four years a^o he joined the National Bank, and for the past two years has been on the staff of the bank's branch at Paparoa
