ORANGE BLOSSOMS.

A wedding of local interest took place in St. Matthew's Church, Eel. eDsville, on "Wednesday last, December 4, the contracting parties being Mr .Tames Newman, eldest son of Mr Chas. Newman, of Helensville, and Miss Bertha Cragg, second daughter of the late Mr Gr. B\ Cragg cf Auckland, the Eev. C. J. Merton officiating, The bride, who was given, away by Mr E. Hew (brother-in-law of the bridegroom), Jooked charming in a dainty frock of cream silk eolinne, with gauged trimmings, the yoke and sleeves being oi silk overall lace, and a panel of the same edged with French knots, adorned the side of the skirt. She wore the usual bridal veil and orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white loses and sweet pea relieved with asparagus fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss JF. Cragg, who wore a dainty frock of blue resilda with gauged trimmings, the yoke and cuffs being of white silk overall lace. She wore a pretty blue hat trimmed with, blue plumes aDd pink roses, and carried a bouquet of pink sweet pea and asparagus and maiden-^ hair fern. The bridegroom was at-* tended by his brother, Mr H.Newman, as best mau. The church was prettily decorated for the occasion, white roses and maiden hair were prominent on the altar and in the chancel, while pale pink rambler and ivy hung in trails from the font.
After the ceremony tlie guests adjourned to Forester's Hall, where in the Supper Room, a sumptuous breakfast was spread, during which the fol lowing toasts were proposed and honoured. The Rev. Merton, on rising to propose the health of the bride and bridegroom, mentioned the various difficulties met with in similar ceremonies in the far North of the Dioscese, and the contrast was very different to what had taken place that morning ; the Church, he went on to say, was very prettily decorated, and with the music made it one of the nicest ceremonies he had had the honour of officiating at. He then proposed the health and happiness of the bride and bridegroom, to which everyone heartily responded. Mr Newman suitably responded. Mr Lambert proposed the healh of the bridesmaid and best man, Mr Page, the biide and bridegroom's parents, to which Mr Newman, Senr., responded, and proposed the health of the visitors, on whose behalf Mr liew responded. Mr White then proposed the health of the officiating minister and his wife, the Rev Merlon responding, Th.6 siuging of "For he's a Jolly Good Fellow," followed each tonst. The caterer, Mr Becroft, is to be complimented upon the way in which the responsible duties wore executed. The tables were arranged so as to form a horseshoe, while here and there flowers and ferns gave an artistic effect, The presents were both numerous and costly, among the most conspicuous being a handsome silver mounted oak tray with a silver teapot, sugar basin, and cream jug, a present from the children of flelensville School, where Miss Cragg had been Infant Mistress for five years. The happy couple left by tho afters noon express amid showers of rice, confetti, aud good wishes. The bride's travelling dress wus a smart striped cloth costume, with grey hat with plumes to mutch.
