Drainage and Water Works.
The foreman of works, Mr McKenzie, informs us that he is getting on satisfactorily with the main sewer along the Kaukapakapa road to the township, which is to continue along Megson's lane to the Eailway line and thence along the line to the South end. We were allowed to look through a long section of the large concrete drain and were surprised at the smoothness cf both the top and bottom. The top of this drain is not being put in with iron casings as was the smaller pipes, but is being built on a collapsable mould which comes away leaving the top surface as clean as the bottom, there being no ridges or joinings visible. Some delay is being caused with this part of the work owing to permission not having been received from the Eailway De« ,-, partment to go underneath the line to . f where the output tank is to be. M&§ The foreman of works, in answer-to^*" our query that the delay in letting the contract for the pipes for the water supply would keep the work back, informed us that there was plenty of work to be done before the pipes would be required, and he thought that they would be on the ground when needed.
Now that arrangements have been made with Mr John Hand to go through his land with the pipe track it should not be long before a start is made with the main dam.
