In Australia some prominence has been given to a suggestion for recip> locity in aaval defence between New Zealand and Australia. Senator Pearce (Minister for Defence), interviewed said : "I thiuk that public opinion in Now Zealand in the matter of Australasian defence is swinging roun lin our direction. Though no official proposals are made for co-op-eration in dofenoo, thore has been informal correspondence between the Premiers, resulting in the visit of General ■Godloy, who had conferred with General Gordon (the Common wealth chief of the general staff) regarding plans for mutual support in time of war.
