Presentation
A very pleasing little function took place yesterday afternoon, when the emploj'ees of Messrs Stewart Bros, met in tke store to make a presentation to Mr Allen on the eve of his marriage. The presentation was made by Mr Stringer who in a few well chosen words, spoke of the very happj' relations existing between Mr Allen and his felJow employees, and on their behalf asked Mr Allen jfeo accept a small memento of the auspicious occasion, wishing himself and bride elect long life and happiness in which to use the san?e. The Present consisted of a very handsome hot water kettle on stand, ana was accompanied by a letter bearing the names of all the employees. Mr^ Allen, in replying, stated that this had come as a great surprise to him. In most cases where presentations were made, the recipent, as a rule, had an inkling of what was going on, but he had not the slightest suspicion of this. He thanked them one and all, on behalf of the future Mrs Allen, as well as himself, for thq handsome present they had made him, which they would always appreciate.
