BOWLING CLUB.
A meeting of the Corrmittee of the above Club was held in. the Board Office oc Saturday evening. Present : —Messrs McLcod (in the chair) J. A.. "Wilson, E. Nicholls, Jas Hand, Ellett, J. Kirnmer and Stringer, (acting secretary). The Secretary read the minutes of the Public Meeting -which' were confirmed. The Chairman stated that Mr Page had declined.the position of Secretary as he was going in foi1 other pastime, and Mr Stringer was asked to curry on, till after thg e opening day, which he agreed to do. The final revision of rules was held over till rules used at Rotorua were procured. The Secretary stated that lie had made application to the Domain Board for use of Bowling green, and they had agreed to lease the ground to the Club at £20 for the first"year, as from ! Oct 1, IJ-H2 to Oct 1 li)l3. It was j agreed to accept Board's terms. ! A letter Avas read from Mr G ( Jack- j son re invitations being sent to visit | ing bowlers and their wives, ] It was decided that invitation caids | be printed and forwarded to Mr Car- j low to distribute to those bowlers who ihe had invited to -attend the opening. Mrs McEwin's ofier to have scoring | cards printed free of cost to the Club ! for allowing her advertisement on ! them, was accepted. ; A vote of thanks was accorded to ' Mr A. Bishop for the presentation of a pair of bowls to the Club. The Secretary stated that ho had written to Mr Coates, M.1 J. notifying him that a Club had l.een formed and i thur the green wuuld be opened on 7th Nov, when it was hoped lie would be able to be present. It was decided , that tlio Secretary! write to the Manager of Eailways { asking that afternoon train be delayed i until 6 p.m. on tho 7th November, to allow visitors from Auckland taking part in the opening of the Club, to return to town. The question of entertainment was ; discussed at some length, and it was j decided that the chairman and Mr Wilson interview tho hclolkoopers and see ivhnt arrangements could lie made to lunch the visitors. Tt was also decided that ai'termoon tea be pro- j vided on the ground and that the. ladies of the district be af-.ked to supervise the same. The chairman thought that all having vehicles be asked to assist in conveying people to the Springs. He thought chero would be no trouble in that direction as tho people had the advancement of the Springs tit heart. Mr Nicholls thought all should do their best as it was for the interest of the district. The time of the official opening was fixed at 12.30. The Secretary stated that there were a good number of promised members already. It Avas decided that each member of tlie Committee have a list and make a collection to cover expenses of en~ teitaining etc. It was resolved that invitations be sent to the Premier, Minister of Tourist affairs, Mr J, G. Coates, M.P. and all Auckland Parliamentary representatives, and tho Mayor of Auckland, to be present at the opening. The secretary was instructed to have members tickets printed ; blue and white were chosen as the Club colours. ; The next meeting of the Committee was fixed for next Saturday. A vote of thanks to the Chairman . terminated the meeting.
