SHOOTING FATALITY.
At 11 a.m. on Wednesday 9th inst, Constable Driscoll received a telephone message from Waimauku to the effect that a young man named John Adlington well known in the District, living on his farm at Wai^ koukou, had been found that morning with a gun shot wound in his head about 200 yards from his residence, by his brother Wilfred about 9 o'clock. Constable Driscoll in company with W, Ryall Eosbroke, (acting coroner.) immediately proceeded to the scene of the fatality which was about 4 miles from Waimauku. An inquest was held at deceased residence tHk: afternoon before the acting corow^^. and a jury of six of whom Mr RatF^^ ford was foreman. Prom the eyjdenjflr..,": adduced it appears that deceasea^Pra^ in the habit of going down t<Jfkhe creek to shoot ducks and rabbitSjand while in pursuit of the game his gun which was an old one, and had faulty triggers, accidently exploded.the shot entering the left side of the head, no | doubt causing a painless death.
Deceased was a young man cf 31 years of age in good health, and he and his brother Wilfred worked the farm. He spent the evening previous to the accident at Mr Scarboro's his nearest neighbour
A verdict was returned " that De* ceased accidently shot himself through, the explosion of his gun."
