PARAKAI GENTLEMEN'S BALL.
The Ball given by the Q-entlemen of Parakai in return to the Ladies' Leap Year Ball was held in the Para* kai Hall on Thursday evening last, and proved a very enjoyable and successful affair, The Hall had been decorated with nikau palms, cabbage trees, and ferns, enlivened with arum lilies, and the windows were draped with white lace curtains, the whole presenting a pleasing appearance, reflecting credit on the committee who had the arrangements in hand. There were about 50 couples present aD:I from the Grand March to the final dance on the programme everything went menily, to the splendid music supplied by Meredith's orchestra of 4 instruments ; extras being supplied \>y Misses Channon and Spinley. The stage, which had been arranged) for chaperons and non-dancers, was well patronised. The dainty supper sup■plied was nicely served by the hosts, under the supervision of lady friends, and contained all the sweetmeats appropriate, ana was much appreciated by those present, the tea and cofteo being especially hot and tasty The Ms.C., Messrs J. Reynard, H. Newman, C. McLeod, and H. Brown, carried out their duties in an untiring manner, while the Secretary, Mr A. McLeod, and the committee left nothing undone that tended to bringing the function to a pleasant and enjoyable terminal.
