A CORRECTION.

TO THE EDITOB

Sir, —In your report of the last meeting of the Town Board, you stat* ed that the Board had decided to take over the first ten chains of Awaroa Eoad as metalled. Such is not the case. It was clearly stated by both the Chairman and Mr John Stewart, that they would metal that portion at their own cost, if it were not already metalled for that distance. Will you kindly correct this matter through your paper. I am, etc., Jambs McLeod. [With reference to the above, in our report we stated " Ten chains of the road to be counted as already metalled," This seemed to us sufficient to state the case, as both Mr Jas. Stewart and Mr J. L. Stewart in answer to Messrs McLeod and Wilson, stated that if 10 chains were not already metalled, they were willing to metal the 10 chains at their own cost. Following was the resolution carried in connection with the dedication subject to Messrs J. and J. L. Stewart agreeing to carrying out the metalling of 10 chains : " That the dedication' of Awaroa Eoad be accepted from Messi'3 D, and J". L. Stewart by the Board, the former to contribute £25 and to cart metal required for road to his boundary, grade and form the road, the Board to supply the metal. Mr J. L. Stewart to grade, form, and fence road from Mr D, Stewart's proporty to Eatawhire Eoad. The road to be 66 feet wide tbe whole wav," Ed.l
