PRESENTATION.

On Monday evening last a smoke conceit, arranged under the auspices of the Helensville, Te Pua and Parkhurst Sports Club, was tendered to Mr J. Kea, who had held the position of secretary to the Club for the past six years, to show the Clubs appreciation of his services, aud to wish him success in his new home at Raupo where he was going to reside. Mr Jas. Stewart (chairman of the Town Board) occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of members and friends of the guest, and an enjoyable evening was spent. Durinc the evening the Chairman, on behalf of the many wellwishers presented Mr with a handsome Gladstone bag, - With a suitably inscribed silver plate. In making the presentation, Mr "" Stewart, stated that the present went to show the esteem in which the recepient was held in the ;district, and he hoped the bag would always be filled with good things, and that it •would never carry an overdraft. Mr Rea heartly thanked the chairman for his remarks, and those present for their gift. He was sorry to sever his connection with the club, but at the same time was glad to be able to leave it in a sound finansial condition, there being a credit balance of over £17. A number of musical items, recita* tions and songs were given during the evening and well received. The toasts which were drunk in an enthusiastic manner included " The . King," Mr Stewart; "Athletic Sports Club," Mr J. A. Wilson: "Our Guest,', Mr C. H. Spinley ; and " The Chairman," Mr Card, the social concluding with cheers and " Auld Lang Syne."
