PARLIAMENT.

MET -TO-DAY.

Parliament resumed this afternoon, and will be occupied principally with formal business during this week. The first business was the Imprest Supply Bill.

A dozen Government Bilk are ready foi introduction. They include a Bill dealing with, the Legislative Council, based on the principle that the selection of members for that chamber should be a privilege of the electors and not of the predominent political party ~

_ Legislation will be introduced rjioviding military pensions on the lines of the proposals made by the various Veterans' Associations. Last year an Act was placed on the Statute Book authorising any person (l who served under the Crown as a soldier in any war" to draw a military pension. This more change of name was not at all acceptable among the veterans, and tho new Bill Avill provide a definite scheme of military pensions. A reduction of the age at which women qualify for old age pensions, will be proposed in a Bill to amend the old age pension Act, [ Other Bills which will be introduced tins week will contain amendments of the Pharmacy Act, the Post and Tele, graph Act, the Prisons Act, the Shipping and Seamen's Act, and the Agricultural Societies Act. Tho iast named will deal with the leasing of iand belonging to agricultural societies and their power to raise money on the security of their property. _ A Land Bill will come before Parliament this session. Among the session's legislation -will also be a Bill to amend the Defence Act. AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY COLLEGE. A Bill to amend the constitution of the Board of Governors of the Auckland University College will be introduced. The measure has been drafted and the Minister for Education stated this evening- that a copy has been forwarded confidentially to the Board fov its consideration."
