A goodly number of, Mr and Mrs R. Hoe's friends assembled in : the Woodhill Hall on the evening of Thursday, 11th inst., to celebrate with them the coming of age of their eldest son Stanley R.Hoe.
Mr J. F. Roberts pleasinglyproposed Stanley's health, referring to his unimpeachable good character and wishing him a happy and prosperous future. To which Mr Stanley Hoe suitably responded, thanking those present for their kind wishes and many generous tokens of esteem on the day he attained his majority; it being an event that he had looked forward to with hopeful anticipation.
Mr R. Hoe also expressed. the pleasure it gave Mrs Hoe and himself to meet so many of their friends that evening, marking as it did an important stage in their family life. He sincerely trusted that his son would have the bright future so generously outlined for him by their friend Mr Roberts, and he felt sure the young people present were likely to have just as bright and happy a future as they had wished for Stanley. "
The remainder of the evening was devoted to dancing and games into which the younger portion of the assembly entered enthusiastically ; and also some nice songs rendered by Mrs Sims and Messrs Lyons and Jackson, accompanied by Miss K. Lyons. r
Light refreshments were served during the evening by willing helpers, and the event closed in the small hours of morning with the singing of Auld Lang Syde.
