RAILWAY MATTERS.
TO THE EDITOR,
Sir,— In your issue of June sth, appeared a letter frcm Mr Shepherd sent to Mr James Stewart re the Rail? way Conference held at Helensville, in which Mr Shepherd states he was " surprised and annoyed that Mr MeLeod should bring the matter up at the Minister's Rooms after we (the conference at Helensville) bad decided to leave whiuh stations to stop at with the Railway Department." lam surprised that Mr Shepherd should rush to print with such a statement. That the stopping places were discussed at the conference. Thero was no mention whatever mada about stopping places at the Conference. When a man of Mr Shepherd's standing rushes to print, he should show respect for the truth. I have spoken, to several membors of the conference, and one and all state there vras no mention of stations at the conference. Amongst others I will name R. M. Cameron, J P., J. A. Wilson, J.P., and Mr J. H. Hudson, Hoteo. It further goes to show how much interest Mr Shepherd was taking in the conference, when he cannot state correctly what took place. I am. etc., James McLeod.
