FOOTBALL.

Last weeks Cup matches were both well contested. Parakai defeated Otakanini by 11 points to nil, and Helensvill defeated Woodhill.

On (Saturday next Parakai play Helensville at Helensville. and Woodhill play Otakanini at Wharepapa. At a meeting of the Kaipara Rugby Union last evening, some discussion took place as to a referee for the Parakai v. Helensville match on Saturday next, when it was decided on the motion of Mr Cucksey, seconded by Mr McEwin, " That a referee be procured from town for the match." An amendment by Mr' Garry, that Mr Rimmer act as referee, lapsed for want of a seconder. It appears as far as we can learn that the Union has two referees, one belonging to one club and one to the other, and neither wished to control the game.
