LANTERN LECTURE

An interesting and instructive Lecture, illustrated by lantern pictures, was delivered by Mr W, A. Cubitt iv St Matthew's Church, on Friday evening last, to an audience of about 50 scholars'of the Sunday school and parents. The subject was the "Life of Christ," from the birth to the ascension, and the various slides depicted scenes in or connected with His life, including such well known ones as the " Adoration of the Magi, Jesus in his Father's workshop" Christ before Pilate " and several not io familiar, such as the " Dream of Herod's wife " etc. A collection in aid of the Sunday school funds was taken up. Mr Cubitt in the course of his remarks stat* ed that he hoped to give other similar entertainments later on, probably in the Foresters' Hall, as the Church was not very sutirable for the focus of the lantern : and he wished it to be understood that children attending any Sunday School of whatever Creed i would be hearitly welcome. Thtf~^?« address concluded with the Benediction while the picture of " Christ pro* nouDcing the benediction" was shown on the screen.
