KAUKAPAKAPA

• The Leap Year Ball given by the ladies of Kaukapakapa on. Friday last May 31st, was a pronounced success in every way, and reflected great credit on the energetic committee who had the arrangements in hand. Although the weather was showery, which kept many people living at a distance away, over 40.couples graced the floor, which had been made per-

feet, and dancing was kept going with Enthusiasm till the early morn, to •" the excellent music supplied by Meredith's band. The hall decorations were tastiully arranged, while the Supper tables were literally laden with confectionery nicely set out with floral decorations. The reversal .of the order of engagements to the fair sex, during the first half of the pr°gramme added enjoyment to the evening. The Masters' of Ceremony, Mesddines Brown and Dormer, and Misses 0. Armstrong, H. Ross and V. Drinnan, carried out their duties admirably ; and a word of praise is due Misses.L. Dye and .M.
