GIFT OF SEATS.

TO THE EDITOR,

Sir, — No doubt your readers will recollect my suggestion (which among other things appeared in your columns some months ago) re gift of seats with name of donor attached. I have also canvassed the idea pretty freely in the district and received many promises providing someone else, would make a start. I am happy to state that the start has been made in three places at once. The gentleman who have generously donated these seats are Mr James Stewart, Mr James McLeod, and Mr John A Wilson. Now that the ice is broken 1 would venture to remind all residents of the district who have the welfare •of the Springs at heart, that they could not demon-

strate that feeling better than by emulating the above named gentleman. The seats are of a pretty design and manufactured by Messrs Beany and Son Auckland " who are open to execute further orders ". • In* conclusion I would say that the thanks of the community will be the everlasting reward of those who feel disposed to assist in supplying this long felt want. The aged and the sick already apperciate those on hand, and next summer no doubt the young and healthy of Helensville will after a long walk out, and a game of tennis apperciate a comfortable sit down, at least so sayeth.

The Caretaker.
