KAIWAKA.

(Own Coubespoxdent.)

Another of our fast diminishing early pioneers has been laid to rest in the person of Mrs Hastie, who departed this life early on Tuesday morning last, aged 82 years. Mis Hastie arrived in Auckland in 1859 with her late husband, who predeceased her nearly 20 years, and shortly afterwards settled m this district, where she lived continually ever siuce, where, by her sterling integrity, she died as she had lived, respected by all who knew her.

There is a rumous of the Kahvaka station being opened shortly. A strong committee has Heen set up to do honour to the occasion. Mr i<\ Clark has in view something unusual in the way of a banquet. The station h on his property. Another section is about to be opened out at the front.
