HELENSVILLE RACING CLUB.
A committee meeting .of the above Club was held in the Library Meeting room on Saturdayevening last. Mr Ellett was in the chair, and a good number of committeemen were present.
It was resolved that the secretary write to the Manager of Kailways, Auckland, asking that the 12.30 train to Auckland stop at the gates near the Course, also that the Wellsford train be delayed, and that the 3.30 train stop and pick up passengers at course. It was resolved that arrangements be made for refreshments to be sold on ground, no charge to be made for the right.
It was resolved, that Messrs Coulter and Tucker be handicappers. Gate keepers were appointed and other preliminaries arranged. Messrs Callagher, Adlington, and Hunter were appointed M'sC. for the dance to take place in the evening after the races, and the admission to same was fixed at Gents Is 6d, Ladies 2s. Mr Hunter was authorised to arrange for music. The arrangements foi.- the meeting are getting on apace, and if the day, the 24th May, proves fine, a good afternoon's sport is anticipated. The programme is a fairly good one and entries are likely to be received from all parts of the district and Auckland, and there should be a large gathering at the Te Makere Course, on Mr Jas. Hand's property, which has once again been put to the use for which it has done duty in years past.
