PUBLIC LIBRARY.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Libiary was held on Friday evening last.. Present: Mr Ansell (in the chair), Messrs W. Laird, E, Driscoll, W.B. Card, and 0. H. Spinley (secretary). • ' Minutes of previous meeting read and-confirmed. The Secretary stated that since last meeting he had received the Government subsidy amounting to £7 8s 9d. j Accounts amounting to 19s 9d were passed for payment. It was resolved that a sub-commit-tee be formed to select new books to the value of £7, and Messrs Ansell, Laird, and the Secretary, were appointed as a committee, to meet when the secretary has secured all the latest catalogues. Some discussion took place as to putting a picket fence on each side of the Library building, facing the main street, and that a gate be also erected, asat "was stated that the Justice Department intended to refence their ground adjoining the Police Station, A deputation consisting of Messrs Spinley" and Hill was appointed to wait oil the Town Board, asking for a subsidy towards procuring new books, and also in regard to making an entrance to the Libraryspction. It -was resolved that Mr Berman be appointed Custodian to the Library,
