FORESTERS' RECEPTION TO THE GOVERNOR.
About 22 members of the Lodge Court Star of Helensville journeyed |to Auckland last evening to take part in the complimentary banquet given in the concert chamber of the Auck- . land Town Hall, by representatives of the Ancient Order of Foresters in tlie Auckland District, to His Excellency Lord Islington, Governor of the Dominion, who is now a member of the Order. Before the danquet, a "court" of the Order was held, at which His Excellency was formally admitted, and Mr C, J. Parr'(Mayor of Auckland), Captain Gibbons of One- , hunga, and a lady, were initiated as members. This function being presided over by Bro. R. Darlow, I.P.D> C.R., who also took the chair at the banquet when 173 ladies and gentlemen attended, wearing the regalia of the Order, the members of the local lodge using their new outfit, which is a very elaborate one, for the first time. Responding to the toast of'his health, Lord Islington, said he was pleased to; bo present, and concluded an able address, by stating that it gave him the greatest pleasure to meet, as a' fellow* member of the Order, the ladies and gentlemen who were assembled at the friendly board, and to feel that he was in touch with the brain, the muscles and the strength of the'industrial life of the community (apulause), Th« toast of " Parliament " was responded \ to by Messrs J. H. Bradney and J: G. Coates M.P. for Kaipara, the latter greatly pleasing the locel visitors by' his able remarks. A number of other' were also honoured, together with' musical items. The members of the Helensville Court arrived back this morning.
