"THE CRUCIFIXIONS."

The Helensville Musv.cal Society willperfox'm the ahove cantata this evening, in the Foresters' Hall, commencing at 8 as advertised in anothelr column. The work is probably the best known of Sir John Stainer's larger compositions. It has been under rehearsal by the Society during the last two or three months, and judging by the rendering at the final practice on Monday evening last, the presentation should be creditable in every way, afford" ing a very pleasing and elevating entertainment to everyone who has the slightest fancy for music, We have been asked by. the Society's secretary to state that applause is unusual at performances of this sort, and to request that the general custom be followed on this occasion, by those who intend being present.
