Mr A. Bocroft, successfully carried out tho shifting of the old butcher's shop from Flelensville South to the North end near Dr. Ivleinhold's. Mr Beoroft had laid his plans of removal well, and when the team of bullocks wore yo/ced on the structure was dragged along Commercial road to its destination within an hour. Wu are sorry to state that Mr Albeit Beoroft, who was assisting in the removal, met with a rather severe accident by falling from the building, receiving a badly lacerated face "and a severe shaking, but we are glad to hear no bones were broken.

The quarterly-meeting of the Kaipara Licensing Court was held in l)argavillo on Tuesday, March 12. Mr V. Frasor, JS.M.,' presiding, and there were present Messrs Slade, Atkinson, Harding and B j*sott. Transfers were granted from h'. B. Melton (Kaukapakapa) to Edward Michael Ley don ; a temporary transfer from P. J. Langley (Helens ville) to E. H. Cucksey. In connection with the Tokatoka Hotel, the police reported that all the improvements ordered had not been completed, end the committee indicated that they -would require to be effected before the annual meeting in June.

Mr C, H, Spinley, Secretary, Public Library, informs us that* he has received £7 8s 9d Government subsidy for the local Library. This is more than was anticipated owing to £4,000 instead of £3,000 being allocated ro the Libraries in the Dominion. It is the intention of the committee at their next meeting, to.expend the sum received in cew books.
Hr Chas. Watevhouse, will preach at the Church of Christ on Sunday next. The evening subject wilt be a continuation of last Sunday's ,ad^ dress, the theme beinp "Shall we know each otha* in the Fu^re Life." In the morning the usual Fellowship Meeting will be held. During the past few weeks there has been a large number of visitors to the town, the hotels being full. A fair number have found their way to the Hot Springs by motor and bus. It is pleasing- to learn that the majority of travellers coming thia way make a point of visiting the springs, which tends to show that the Springs are becoming better known than heretofore. >,
The three raoes between Postle and Donaldson, the sprint Champions of the World, at the St. Patrick1 s Sports, at Auckland on Saturday, resulted in Postlo winning the three events with world's recora times. The times were for 75 yds, 7 1-sth. sees; 15Uyds, 14 l-')th sees.; 200 yds, 19secs. Uonaldson was only beaten by very nariow margins in eafch event, Postle, interviewed after tho races, said " that he had run the races of his life." Donaldson admitted that he was fairlj beateu, but was not feeling quite at his best. Ho congratulated Arthur Postle on his great running.

On Saturday the Auckland fisher^ men, who have been selling their fish at the wharves for some weeks past owing to a dispute between them and the wholesale buyers, came to an agreement to accept1 2s 6d a bundle for fish, and no more fish will be sold at the wharves, Iho dispute arose though the dealers ref nsias to paj' 2s 6d a bundle to the fishermen, who ciade the demand for a sispennv rise considering they were underpaid at 23 a bundle,
At' the St. Patrick Sports held in Auckland on Saturday, there was a large attendance. An excellent programme was piesented apart from the races between.the two visiting sprinters and some good sport was witnessed. We have very few sprinters up this way, and only one local aapiraut, Mr 0. MeLeod, who was unplaced in his heat of. the 12(/yds Sheffield Handicap, was taking pare iv the events. Al* : though unplaced .at the meeting, there is no doubt Mr McLeod will show that he has gaiued something by contesting in such a big event, at the local sno:ts oa Easter Monday.
