RACE-MEETING AT HELENSVILLE.

For some time past those interested have been endeavouring to renew interest in the Helensville Kacing 01ub, ; and the Secretary, Mr James Hand, \vrote the Minister of Internal Affairs, for permission to hold a Race Meeting in Helensville on or about 17th March next. In years gone by there used to be some good meetings held here and; there were a number of -well-bred horses in the district. Owing to j?e meeting, being, cut out the- class of horses have been going'back this year or so, and it is with tjjte mam object' of improving the. class of horses in: the district that endeavours are being made to again get percussion to hold meetings. ' v Wellington 2nd, February, Sir.— I have ihe honour "to acknowledge"the receipt of your letter of the 27th ultimo asking for permission to hold a race meeting on or about 17th March,, 1 & 12. In reply I am directed by tide Minister of Internal Affairs to enclose herewith a printed form of application for a license to conduct Horse-races, and to inform you that if you will fill tip the same and return it to this office, the livattef sKall receive consideration. ; A copy ofjthe conditions on which licenses are issued under the Race Meetings Act, .1909 is enclosed for your guidance I havb'tKe honbur: to be, Sir, your most obedient servant, R. J, Lyxch, for Under Secretary." A meeting of all interested is to be heli in the Public library on Monday evening to arrange matters so as the application *or a 'License to conduct Horse-races can be made in proper form. It is necessary that the description of races proposed to be lield, the date on which, the meeting is to be held, etc., to be properly stated, and all wishing to assist in procuring a permit should attend.
