A '"Gazette" proclamation prorogues Parliament till November 20. Mr. Stallworthy, M.P., was enthnsiastically welcomed home on Monday night at Aratapu, tbe ball being crowded. P. Wake) presiding, . Great relief was felt in Auckland yesterday morning when it was learnt that tbe difficulty between tbe Labourers' Union and tbe Drainage Board had been amicably settled. The strike was caused through the Draiaao-e. Board allowing sub-contracting. The wind up of the Helensville Hint Club for the season takes place at Mi Jas. McLeod's farm on Thursday November 9th, in tbe form of a gymkhana meeting. The programme arranged consists of 7 events, and a good day's sport is assuied.

Tho Auckland Farmers Union sales for November will ho held as follows:—Heleusville, Monday, Nov. 20; AVarkworth, Tuesday, Nov. '2 1st, the altertaion has been made as not to clash with tho Auckland Show, which is hold on the 22, 2U, 2-J, and S2 of November.

A very enjoyable evening was spent in the Parakhi Hall last night when tho Parakai Euchre Olub held the last of their Euchre parties for the season, about sixty poisons being present. The ladies' prizes were won by Miss Monstedt, Ist; and Mrs E. Day 2nd ; and tho gentlemen's prizes by Messrs JI. Fan-ell, Ist, and W. Nicholls, 2nd, The booby prizes were won by Miss A, Bradly and Mr J. Farrell. The music, supplied by Mi«s Donovan, was all that could be desired.

Tlib Helensville Hot Springs Swimming Club's first Carnival is advertised to take place at the Hot Springs Swimming Bath, on Friday, November 10., commencing at 8 p.m. The po- tgramme consists of 8 evouts. All nominations close ou Saturday, Nov. 4tli, and are to be accompanied with last two years' peri'oraiancp.s. There will be exhibitions given by several Auckland amateurs. Admission will be Is for adults, and fid for children under twelve. The Secretaries re(juest all intending competitors to forward their entries as soon as possible to allow of final arrangements being made.

Wo remind oru readers of the Concert to bo held in the Forester Hall tomorrow (Thursday) evening, in aid of the Presbyterian Chuich. The children in the Maypole Dance and Moral March, are in excellent form, and these two items in themselves should be well worth witnessing; but that is not all, the programme is a good one and the best vocal and Instrumental talent lias been secured. The prices of admission are low for a first class evenings entertainment feuch as you will get; so do not miss "witnessing the concorfc to-morrow evening. During the interval postcard pictures of the children in the Floral March and Maypole Dance will be on sale.
