HELENSVILLE WATER AND DRAINAGE SCHEME.
To The Ed;tob.
Sir.— I would earnestly remind all rate-payers that the Proposal put forward by the Board to bor^ *ow £10,000 to give effect to this scheme will be decided by them by ballot to-morrow and that they give, expression to their thoughts by voting for or against this scheme.
In regard to defective drainage throughout the township, the present .. ■ and past Boards have been wrongly blamed for this state of affairs existing. It is as svell for them to realise that the Board has no money to carry out a Drainage Scheme unless they borrow. We are simply elected as the mouth* piece to carry put their wishes,'but unless they agree to our borrowing the , money, a scheme of"this description cannot be entered into. That it will, ..-•' ,riaise their.rates, goes without saying, all reforms pnieh somewhere in.'the V '■•■- ---beginning. The whole matter (jonia^ja ■■*■ down to, whether it is a good rnvs^- %iu ment and a progressive. ■ scH^ni^^^s; the township to borrow this mV^ey.-.vi^ ! They should give the matter theSft, , r earnest arid careful consideration her, > f ?-:i' fore recording their vote on Thursday* > I am, etc., ■-
: Jas. Stewart; Chairman, Helensville Town Board.
