Port Albert,

The Ladies and Gentlemen's Hockey teams visited Kaiwaka to try conclusions in a friendly game on Saturday, Sept. 9th. The launch Ivy left the Port Albert wharf shortly after 8 a.m.,-arriving at Kaiwaka after a comparatively calm trip, a few minutes after twelve ; dinner was served at once. After a short spell the two teams repaired to tho ground, Ladies' Match. The local team won the toss, and decided to play with tho wind at their back and a gentle slope in the ground to their favour. 'Port Albert had doeidedly the better of tho game in the first half, keeping their opponents, for tho most pait, except for occasional rushes, within the circle. Port Albert, however, failed to score, which reHects great credit on the Kaiwaka goal-keeper. 'In the second, half, Port Albert again hadtlio bettor of tho game, and after several vain attempts to break through tho Kaiwaka defence, succeeded in scoring a goal. Shortly after time wus called : Port Albert 1, Kaiwaka nil.' Gents Match. Kaiwaka won the toss and played with the wind and tlm slope of the ground in their favour. From the start, the game was fast and furious. The-Kaiwaka forwards played with great spirit, and Albertlands' goal was threatened, but by a change of fortune play again returned to half-way, where F Reid gained possession of the ball and scored first goal for Port Albert. Prom the bully, Kaiwaka gainpd possession and, with a furious rush, succeeded in scoring. Luck then seemed, to favour Kaiwaka, for within a few minutes two more goals were added to their score. However, jusi before the whistle for half-time, F. Reid, cleverly.eluding- tho full backs and goal, scored the second goal, for Port Albert, At half-time the games were : Port Albert 2, Kaiwaka 4.

In the second half, with the wind and the giound in their favour, Port Albert'made tilings lively and very soon scored. Fi om the bully Kaiwaka again took possession and scored their fifth goal. Port Albert, however, were now pressing hard, and beforo call of time, added tno more goals to their score. Th.c game resulted in a draw ; Port Albert 5, Kaiwaka 5. "Mr Butler Ryan ably officiated as referee, After the match Port Albert was entertained to tea at the Hall, where the usual speoches wero made. The day concluded with a very pleasant dance. The Albertlanders were very g'-ateful for the kind treatment they repeiyed, and expressed the wish to be able to return it'at no distaut date,
