SWIMMING CLUB.
A meeting was held in the "Foresters' Hall supper room on Friday evening last, in connection with, the above, when there were about 14 present! Mr Tui McEwin was voted to the chair and explained that the meeting was called for the purpose of forming a swimming club, to affiliate with the Auckland Association, so as to give the swimmers of Helensrille and district a chance of taking part in Association swimming contests, and he thought it would also help the Springs to become better known. When it was seen that the baths were large enough to hold swimming meetings, people would wish to visit it, and besides that the Board would receive a good deal of extra revenue from members of the Club. . .
It wns resolved that a Swimming Club be formed, to be called "The Helensville Hot Springs Swimming Ciub." The following officers were elected,': President: -Captain Hammond.' Vice-Presidents :—Messrs James McLeod, James Stewart, A. J. Hill, J, A. Wilson, H. W- Stringer, E. S. Masters, E. Nieholls, Dr. Meinhold and Captain Sellers.
Committee :— Messrs W. Harris, John Hand, L, McLood, G. Jtficholls' C. Wilson,.. J. Lambert, , and V. Me. Leod.
Secretaries and Treasurers '-—Tui MeEwin and GL F. Willis.
The subscriptions were fixed at 3s 6d for adults; ladies and school childran, Is. • ■
The balance left over from the last Carnival was donated to the Club fhnds. ,
The secretary was instructed to write to the Auckland Swimming. Association stating that a Club had been formed and asking tor information re affiliaV tion, and. also for copies of rules. The secretaries were also "instructed to interview the Domain Board aud make arrangements re price of baths for swimming meetings, and also a ni°-ht when they could be. held The meeting was of opinion that Friday nio-ht would be the most suitable, and atter some discussion it was decided that the Board.be asked to allow the meetings to be held on Fridaj nights, [c was decided that the committee take m hand a Swimming Carnival as soon as possible.
