HELENSVILLE SCHOOL, COMMITTEE

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Thursday, Sept. 7ih when there were present Messrs R. C, Hammond (Chairman), Becroft, Olive, Constable, Simcock and White.

The Secretary reported that the Bank balance had a credit of £12 7 6.

A letter was received from Mr Skel ton, of Maunp-atopeere, with reference to Mr W. Richardson's late Lible caso with a teacher, asking the Committee if they could obtain any assistance towards the expenses -which, amounted to £2000. The letter was received.

Re High School for Helensville, the Chairman stated that he had received a letter from the Secretary of the Board of Education, setting forth particulars of how to procure the same. The letter amongst other things stated that there had to be a membership of 20 pupils guaranteed before the Board could entertain the proposition. The Chairman reported that he had still further particulars to come forward from the Secretary, and he would be able to go more fully into the matter at next meeting.

Technical School.—The Chairman reported that he had received advice that he would get the cheque for £80 promised by the Waiteinata County Council this mon;h, being their contributions towards the school building ; he would also recoive the Town Board's contribution of £40 this month.

Mr Olive was appointed vssiting member of the Committee, foi the month of September. !

The Chairman reported that the schoul had been inspected by the" Government Inspector last month, but the report had not yet come to hand. He had every reason to believe lhat the inspector, Mi Garrard, wae very pleased with the results shown by "the pupils throughout the school.

The Chairman also reported that the Town Board had receive! advice that the section vested in the Justices Department would bo transferred to the Education Department and Gra-. zetted shortly.
