PUBLIC LIBRARY.
A general meeting of subscribers of the Helensville Public Library was held on Friday evening last, Mr A. J» Hill occupying the chair. The minutesof the previous meeting were read and confirmed, BALANCE SHEET. A balance sheet for year ending December 31st, 1910 was read as follows: V Balance Sheet for year ending Dec. 31st, 1910. W. C. Laßoche, May 2nd, 1911. C. H. SPINLEY, Secretary. The finances for last year were almost nil as the Library had been practically closed. The receipts were £1 10s; expenditure £5 16* Bd, leaving a credit balance of £1 lla 2d* Several additional subscriptions reA ceived during the meeting made the total balance in hand £3 Is 2s. The Secretary stated that there were a number of outstanding subscriptions for eeveral yeairs; back which he thought would be forthcoming now that the Library was to be opened regularly again.

A vote of condolence was passed on the death of Mr T. W. Sewell who was a late member of the Library committee.
. The secretary stated that the title to the Library site had been granted. _The Chairman reported that he and Mr Spmlej had waited on the Town Board re Coronation Grant of £75 and had been informed by that Board' that they could get the grant by raising the money to lift it. All members present received sub> scription lists for signatures towards the building fund. ' COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting was then held, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr C. H. Spinley was unanimously re-elected Secretary. < It was decided to open the Library every Saturday evening between 7 and 9 o clock, and endeavours were to be made to get a caretaker for Wednesday evenings. In the meantime the key could be obtained at Mr Beimau'a store by subscribers.
The Secretary, was instructed to pro. cure a Library return book, and*ooo labels for the purpose of markimr md; numbering books. . i A vote of thanks lo the Chairman terminated the meeting.
