FOUND DEAD.
ADJOUENED INQUEST.
The adjourned inquest on the body of the unknown deceased, found on the bank of the Kaipara River on the 14th mat was continued on Monday 21st. at the Helensville Court House, before W. Ryall Fosbroke. Esq. Coroner, and a Jury consisting of W, A. Laird. D. P. Mclntvre, A. Noble a. w. McEwin, F. Tucker, and W. U. Card (foreman.) Constable Dnscoll informed the Jury that there was no fiesh evidence. No one had been reported missing in this district, and the body had not been identified when buried. Since the adjournment on the 15th inst. inquiries had been made throughout this district, Wairoa and Otarn atea districts, and no one is reported missing. He was satisfied deceased was not known in this district. He bad interviewed the Captains and crews of different boats trading out ;of Helensville and they had no know* ledge of any man missing, answering the description of deceased, being a passenger in their boats. Judging from his clothes he thought the deceased was a stranger in the Dominion. He has in his possession all th.c clothing and articles found on the body.
The Police gave the following descnption. of the unknown deceased who could only be identified by his clothes, the tiesh of his face beino- CO m~ pletely gone:— ° A man of about 40 years of ajre, sft lO^ins _in height, apparently-, fair complexion, brown hair turning grey, of slight build, .good teeth; traces of light brown hair turning grey on upper lip, His dress---■ Light colored Macintosh, fashionably made having the following trade u^ark under the collar- « National Eubber Co., of Canada, Steam vul^ camsed, warranteed to stand all dim ates, Montreal," side pockets, bone buttons with no name on them fawn velvet collar; the suit was of dark tweed, striped pattern well made no name on buttons or tabs, braces brand thick woollen drawers; linen collar aze >*£~ brandei "Tyburn Cltrnecs shrunk" made by Fluett Brobodv arrow brand ; black tie ; black cashmere socles; two linen handkerchiefs, > letter P embroidered on one and P" ".B "on the other, light laceup'boots size 9; covered by galocheV On ■• searching the clothes the follovinir articles were found:- American Lever Wa'ch No A 9185, Hampden Watch bo., which had been repaired and No b069 and 1250 scratched inside of case, relied gold chain of curb ™* tern with fancy end ß; small po ?ket bopk no writing on it; small 2 oladed knife poarl handle father pouc h " purse containing 8 S 7d ; small circular mirror no hat.
