HUNT CLUB SOCIAL.

The Social arranged by the committee of the above in aid of the funds of the Club was held on Friday evening last and proved a pleasant and sociable gathering, and very successful from, a financial point, being attended by about" 60 couple.

Daring the evening two items were given fey members of the HelensviLle (Jlee Club, " Hail Smiling Morn " and " Hark, Music Swelling," arranged by Uimbault as a part i3ong- and adapted from, the overture to Rossini's opera lt Semiramide." These numbers were excellently rendered, and were the practised result of efficient work in rehearsal. The blend of the voices was exceptionally good. TJnfortunally for those who wishes to Listen the effect was somewhat marred by the very audible conversation carried on by persons in. the" hall. Song " Celia and the Hoses" was nicely rendered by Miss Little, as also was a duet" If you and I." by Misses Little and v Donovan who t^sra-' both in good voice. Similar discourtesy was also exhibited duiing these items when numbers of the audi enq^tetr^lled noisily across the hall 'wi'tk jio attempt at quietness and without any regard to the singers or to those mho wished to hear them. The danci&g was very enjoyable, the music being supplied by Miss F. Donovan, Miss Little, supplying several extras, while the floor was in good ox^m, and showed the committee had-:rafc spared themselves to provido a pleasant evening,

The supper provided by the ladies committee was all that could be desired and much appreciated by all, adding greatly to the enjoyment of those present.

Messrs E. Hunter, J. Eeynard and M. Addlington carried ont the duties of Master* of Ceremonies, and kept the dancing going merrily till the small hours of the morn.
