SHOW COMMITTEE.

The second meeting of the 1912 Show Committee was held in the Hall basemelit, on Thursday August 10th, at 7.30 pm. Therewas a good attend • anceoi members. Mr H, Legge occiX' pying the chair. 1
The schedule was thorough y revised, and alterations and improvements' made. The reports of the Sports and Ladies committee's were read and adopted. It will be noticed that considerable changes have been made in the Sports programme, It has been the coniLjittee's endeavour to make the programme as attractive as possible. Several events have been cut out and others put' in their place. Amongst the latter is the Chain Stepping Competition, and a relay-race. For the latter the committee recommend that at least three teams bo iaised to compete; Maoris, Footballers,
and Outsiders. Several events have been made open for competition to Maoris only, in order to encourage entries. The committee have endeavoured to lower the entrance fee aa much as possible, A Sub-committee was elected to arrange for a concert in aid of 1912 Show funds, to be held in November next. The Programme will consist of both town and local talent, so that the public can rely on a really first class entertainment.
After a great deal of discussion it was decided to alter the ■ do.te of the Show. February 2nd, the date fixed by the first meeting was decided to be too early for tho main crop of fruit. Would all tho?e interested please note that the 1912 ShoAv is now fixed for Friday Eebruury 23rd.
