Helensville Town Board.

The Chairman stated that the Coronation Grant applied for had been granted. The amount was £75, that being tho maximum allowedfor Town Boards,
Health Officers Report.
The District Health Officers report of June 16, with the report of an Inspector of the Health Department dated May 24, wero read, which showed that a very insanitary state of affairs existed in Helensville, and to which was attache! a number of names of persons to whom notices had been .served, The report which was a lengthy one, puts forth the following reforms:—The framing and enforcement of sanitary by-laws, night-soil deposits, general sanitary by-laws as regards cleanliness of yards and disposal of garbage, and prohibiting the keeping of fowls except in proper houses and runs, etc., and finishod by stating that the Board must now seriously consider the advisability of getting a water supply and proper sewerage system. / Mr Becroft said he did not consider the report was a fair one, and he was opposed to the report as he did not think Helensviile was in such a bad state.
The Chairman : Tho report is fairly correct, Helensville is in a bad state. He would move, That the report of the Health Officer bo received. Mr McLeod seconded the motion, which was carried.
It was resolved : That Mr M. Hnfford be appointed Sanitary Inspector to the Board, and make an inspection onco a month and report at the Board's ordinary meetings. The Clerk was instructed to procure a copy of model'by-laws on the lines indicated in the report of the District Health Officer.
Miscellaneous.
A letter was read from Mr Bradley tendering his resignation ns ranger to the Board. —Resignation received, and the clerk instructed to invite applications for his successor.
The Clerk to write asking the Poundkeeper to render a statement of receipts to date.
Mr Stewart wrote stating that ho was laying out a new load, to be called Awarua Road, connecting with Stewart Street, and found that Mrs Martin's house was encroaching on the line. In dedicating the road to the Buard ho was willing to pay an annual rent for the encroachment, and whan necessary remove the house
Mr Hammond proposed, Mr Wilson seconded: That in the event of the road beiug dedicated to and taken over by the Board, the Board lease Mr Stewart that portion on which Mrs Martin's house stands at a rental of 2s 6d per annum. —Carried.
Letters were received from Messrs Cameron, Kimmer and tSandin, re repairing the road in front of their places of business. Resolved that the work would be dono Avhen funds permitted.
It was decided to continue the footbath from Mr Sandin's chemist shop to the end of Mrs D, Stewart's pro-
perty.
Scoria for metalling lane to the back of Dr. Mieinhold's house was authorised.
The Chairman moved, Mr Hammond seconded, and it was carried : That the Board wiite to the Minister of Crown Lands asking that the land adjoining the school grounds be vested in the Education Board as a playground for the children.
The Clerk was instructed to write to the Postmaster asking that horse-rails be put up iv front of the Post Office.
Loan
A notification from the Advances to Settlers Department Mas read ap proving the loan of £10,000 applied for.
Eeeolved that thu Clerk take the nccessarj steps to push tho mat!er of procuring the loan, and if necessary .to take legal advice from Messrs Bus. sell and Campbell. Financial.
Accounts amounting to £25 17s 4d paid in between meetings were passed, and other accounts amounting to £78 6s were passed for payment.
The Clerk reported that the Town Board banking iaccount Avas.in credit £116 9s 4d, and the Cemetery account £14 0s od.
