Ch afifty Brothers have declined their tender for irrigating a block of land under the new Irrigation Act, in consequence of the amendment in that measure made during its passing through the ABsembly. The proposal to establish a daily Hansard through the medium of the Age newspaper has been shelved. In his speech to Parliament yesler-
day the Governor described the Irrigation Act as a measure which deals with u subject of vital importance, and provides settlement of the vp X cd questioi arising out of the indeterminate tiatur of riparian rights in Victoria.
The Union Company's steamship Rotomahana arrived this afternoon, via Hohart from Port Chalmers.

Parliament is summoued to meet on January 17th. The condemned in connection with the Mount Ronnie outrage will probably be executed on January 7th.
