TO THE LASSES.

Go forth, brave girls! Keep on your mission sent! ' And broadcast sow the seeds from heaven lent! The font o'erflows, the sparkling drops descend, And fill the souls which meekly here attend. To His commands, that monarchs who on high Doth watch his soldiers from yon distant sky, Who there await with honours for each breast That can withstand old Satan's wily test, And testify within that coat-of-mail Made impregnable by the cross and nail. Go forth, brave girls! and break old Satan's bonds Whilst listening sinners' inner soul responds ! How oft the scoffers, while on mischief bent, Touched by your prayers come forward aud repent, And bless the day God sent you to this place, Recruiting soldiers for Salvation's race. Advance, brave girls ! nor let your power wane, Whilst mandates teach ye, valiants lead the van ; Your dauntless hearts God's spirit doth entwine, Transmitting power like the stars which shine ; Or like the seedling 'neath the fruitful earth Burst forth, proclaim the praises of its birth, Solicits strength its Maker to repay, In meek obedience awaits the coming day. Go forth, brave girls! still earnestly appeal, Whilst to the cross the condemned sinners steal! Your words call forth a retrospective

view; Our early teachings all come forth anew ; How earnestly they taught us in our youth, How did we act, or heed their proffered truth 1 Reflecting now, still deeper dyed in sin, A»e calls on youth to pray for him within. May you from battlefields rest whole and pure Within the gates, from enemies secure ! J. E. Dillman's Town, November 13, 1886.
