+ [REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. THE S.S. WENDOUREE. ARRIVAL OF WENDOUREE AT SYDNEY A NEW GOLDFIELD. (Received October 16, 2.45 p.m.) Melbourne, October 16. Huddart Parker and Co.’s steamship Wendonree, 300 tons, which left Melbourne on the 12th inst. for Sydney, has not since been heard of. She had ten saloon passengers, and thirteen in the fore cabin. Fears are entertained for her safety. Later. The owners of the Wendonree believe that she has been disabled and drifted, because she has not been reported along the coast since passing the steamship Cheviot. A steamer has been despatched in search of the missing vessel. A heavy gale has been blowing along the coast during Thursday and Friday. The Wendouree’s crew numbered 35. Sydney, October 16. The steamship Wendonree arrived this evening from Melbourne all safe. (Received October 18, 12.30 p.m.) October 18. Obituary.—Ogg, one of the Victorian Railway Commissioners. (Received October 18, 1.15 p.m.) The rumour that defalcations have occurred on the part of an official in one of the banks is now con6rmed. The defaulter is one of the tellers in the Bank of Australasia. The defalcations amount to £IOOO. (Received October 18, 12.30 p.m.) A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Stodaut Campbell, toller of the Bank of Australasia, whose defalcations are now known to be nearly £2OOO. He has disappeared, and is supposed to have committed suicide. (Received October 16, 7.50 p.m.) Adelaide, October 16. The report of a payable goldfield being discovered at Waukaringa is fully confirmed. One digger obtained a pound weight of gold in one week. One hundred and fifty men are now on the field.
