[REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. ■ ♦—■ BARRIER ISLAND MURDER. IDENTIFICATION OF CAFFREY. (Received October 5, 5.20 p.m.) Sydney, October 5. A man named Joe Adams, alias Oaffrey, has been arrested at Fermot. [? Fernmount, 371 miles from Sydney] on suspicion of being concerned in the Great Barrier Island murder. A revolver, some cartridges, and a piratical flag have been found in his swag. The prisoner denipd having been in New Zealand, but his appearance exactly answers the description of Caffrey. His mate Penn has not yet been traced. A quantity of wreckage of ship's stores has been found at Port Macqunrie, as well as a board bearing the name "Auckland." -The prisoner has been remanded. (Received October 6, 1.10 p.m.) October 6. Joe Adams, alias Caffrey, who was arrested at Fernmount, in the north of this colony, is fully identified as the Barrier Island murderer. His companion, Penn, is not traced.
