WRECK OF SCHOONER CLYDE. Wellington, October 1. The Marine D.*p»rtment received the following telegram from Nelson ; “Tim captain of the Hawea reports the schooner Clyde on shore on a reef at Croixelles. He sent a boat from the steamer to the schooner, but found no one on board. The starboard anchor was clown.

WRECK OF THE S.S. LYTTELTON,

Wellington, October 1. The steamer Lyttelton was wrecked at the Beef Barrels last night. She is owned in Wellington by Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co., and is insured in the Colonial Insurance Company for A'2000; re-i nsured as follows; £250 in the New Zealaed, £250 in the Victoria, £250 in the Australian Mutual Live Stock, £250 in the Standard, and £SOO in the Batavia. Where the vessel is wrecked is near the Blind Bay entrance to the French Pass. Nelson, October 1. The steamer Lyttelton, bound from Co!lin;v.-oo. : iq >V?!ling' l r ! with a cargo of coal, struck on the R.. e f Barrels, near the French Pans, at halfpast seven o’clock last night, and sunk in ten minutes in deep water, going com-

pletely out of sight. The captain and arew took to the boats, and went to the French Pass, and were picked np by the steamer Murray, and brought to Nelson. The official inquiry is to be held to-morrow.
