Friday, October 1. [Before J. Giles, Esq., Warden.] SUITS.

Richard John Seddon, plaintiff, sued Patrick Rooney, defendant, for the sum of £6, for trespassing upon and interfering with the residence area of eomplainant, situate in Fifth street, Knmara; also praying that defendant be ordered to desist from further interference with said residence area. Judgment for plaintiff, damages Is, and costs 21s, one witness, 21s, one witness £2, two witnesses £l, and counsel £3 3s.

P. Rooney, complainant, sued R, J. Seddon, defendant, for cancellation of defendant's certificate No. 47313 for residence area situate on Education Reserve, Kumara, or that the certificate he varied so as not to include section No. 826 so occupied by complainant, on the grounds that the Mining Regulations have aot been complied with.—Mr M. Hannan for complainant: Mr Purkiss for defendant.—Judgment for defendant; costs estimated as in the case Seddon v. Rooney. William Ames, complainant, sued John Caldwell and others, defendants, for cance'latiou of defendants’ extended claim No. 33696, on the grounds of abandonment, and that certificate be cancelled, and that complainant be declared first applicant for the same. Mr Seddon for complainant ; Mr Hannan for defendant.—Judgment, by consent of both parties ; That the’ extended claim in question be decreed to have been abandoned and forfeited on and from the 12th day of September u' mmo, and that the registration be cancelled on and from that date.

complainant as tribute money for the privilege of working complainant’s half share m extended claim No. 37039. Ross Terrace, from the 4th April, 1884, to the 16th April, 1885—Mr Purkiss for complainant; there wag no appearance of defendant. Plaintiff BWO re to personal service of summons at Hokitiki last Tuesday, Judgment for amount claimed, and costs 8s and counsel £1 Is.

Evenden and others, by their agent Mr Hannan, applied for three months’ protection for their extended claim No. 46278, Nardoo Flat.—Judgment postponed for fourteen days, with protection during that time. William Ames, by his agent Mr Seddon, applied for a special claim of twelve acres of land at the Shallow Lead. A statement was put in shewing in detail the expenditure necessary to open out and put in working order the claim applied for, which amounted to a total in the aggregate of £2975, and serious difficulties in the way of working the same. Mr D. Hannan, on behalf of G. B. Way and party, Alexander Nesbit and party, and Joyce and party, objected to the application. The application was postponed to allow of a survey of the ground being made. William Heinz, by his agent Mr Seddon, applied for sections 218, 219, as a residence area in Tui street. There was no objection by the Education Reserve Board.—The application was granted.

G. B, Way and others, by their agent Mr Hannan, applied for an extended claim of six acres near the Break and Shallow Lead. The expenses in connection with the working of this claim, which started to work with a tail-ace on August 4, 1882, showed a total cost of £4559 16s 6d! The amount of gold obtained was valued at £1246 8s; so that there had been a loss of £3313 8s 6d, or a loss per man during the four years of £552 4s 9d.—William Ames, by bis agent Mr Seddon, objected to the application, on the ground that it would prevent him from being able to-open out his special claim.

Csesar Mitchell and party, by their agent Mr Hannan, applied for three months’ protection for their extended claim at Nardoo Terrace.—Granted.
