CHIEF JUSTICE OF VICTORIA.
(Received September 21, 1 p. m. Melbourne, September 21. In a despatch to the Premier by the last mail Sir Graham Berry, Agent* General in London, expresses himself sanguine of an amicable settlement of the New Hebrides question and that one acceptable to the colonies, will be arrived at between England and France,
Mr Justice Higginbotham will be appointed to succeed Sir W. F. Stawell as Chief Justice of Victoria. Sydney, September 20. The Union Company’s steamships Turawera and Wakatipu arrived this morning.
