The real object of the Bill introduced by Mr Parnell to amend the Dish land legislation is supposed to be to separate the Unionists from Government.
A proposal baa been made that the Indian and Colonial Exhibition should continue open over next year, on condition that Canada guarantees £3OOO and New South Wales and Victoria £2OOO each.
The continuance of fine weather and the consequent healthy condition of the new crops have caused a depression hi the wheat market Australian Can/ecy. ex ship, are quoted at 3-is 9d to 355; ex scoio, 35s to 35s Gil.
The yield of the British hor crop is
expected to be 800,000 cwt. The yield of the Continental crop is only half. September 14, The Journal des Debats urges the French Government to arrange more friendly relations respecting the New Hebrides. Mr E. Stanhope has hopes of an early evacuation of those islands by the French.
