THE KIMBERLEY RUSH.

[Editor Kumara Tisies.]

Sir—ln accordance with my promise, I send you what information is at hand concerning the Kimberley goldfields. Cambridge Gulf is a magnificent waterway. Opposite Wyndham at low tide, and within 200 feet of the shore, there aro seven fathoms of water. As yet there is no wharf. Horses swim ashore, and cargo is landed by a punt. Wyndham is comprised of four Btores, four pnbs, bakery, blacksmith's shop, and a few other smaller business places, which in all make about 70 residents. There is no fresh water at Wyndham, consequently miners do not stay here, but camp where there are two wells—about three miles on the road to the diggings.

As regards the goldfield the reports are just aa vague and conflicting as they were when we left Sydney. I have just interviewed one man, who states that he has just returned from the field. He says that the first men on the field did very well; but he has done nothing, and is not returning. He acknowledges that there is plenty of likely-looking country for prospecting, for men with meaus; but for poor men to rush, as they aie, he says " it is simply madness;" and from what I see S 3 far, I endorse his statement.

A.s to the climate, the reports have been greatly exaggerated. It is warm (today 110° in the shade), but not unhealthy.

We start for the diggiugs in about two days, so you can expect news later on from the field.

Kindly publish this, as I have not time to write to all friends personally. Yours <fec, Geokge Mansfield. Wyndham, July 22nd, 1886.
