VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
The monthly meeting of the Volunteer Eire Brigade was held in the Town Ha'l on Wednesday evening; present— C,ipt. Burger, Lieut, Anderson, Treasurer Braysbaw, Eiremen Smith, Close, Murlha, Ziegler, Rudkin, Stevenson, Adamson, M‘Ewen, Howe, Meiklejohn, Hamburger, and Gebhardt. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Messrs J. Stubbs and T. Martin were unanimously elected members of the Brigade. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Borough Council request, iog that some provision be made for storing water in the creek at the Junetion of Third and Seddon streets. It was resolved that the captain procure epauletes for the officers. The following entries were taken for a team to represent the Brigade at the Greymouth Fire Brigade competition on the 9th November next :—Brayshaw, Hamburger, Adamson, Anderson, C. Murtha, Meiklejohn, Howe, Close, Gebhardt, F. Smith, Close, M‘Ewen, and M‘Mahon. It was resolved that a weekly practice be held until the date of the competition.
