THE NO. 2 SLUDGE-CHANNEL REGULATIONS.

Regulations fur the Control and Management of the Main Tail-Race, commonly called the “ Kumara SlndgoCiuuiiK'l No. 2,” and Registered as Main Tail-race No. 4(5270, dated Bth January 188(5; and Terms and Conditions for the Use of the said Slain Tail-race, by Persons other than other the Holders, as provided by section 25 of Part lit. of Appendix D to the Alines Act, 1877, viz.— 1. From Urn number of registered holders (hereinafter called the Trustees) of the Main Tail-race (hereinafter called the Channel) shall be elected, in manner hereinafter provided, a Committee (hereinafter called the Committee), consisting of live persons, including a chairman, secretary, and treasurer ; hut the offices of secretary and treasurer may bo held by the same person. 2. There shall lie an annual meeting, at which the following persons shall be entitled to bo present, viz., the trustees and any other persons who shall have obtained a right to lease of the channel. At each such animal meeting, a fresh committee and officers shall be elected from amongst the trustees, the same tiersons being eligible for re-election ; and the accounts and balance-sheet of the treasurer shall be submitted to the meeting, and ail other necessary business transacted. All casual vacancies in tiro Committee shall be filled up by the Trustees. 3. The first annual meeting shall be held at a time and place to bo notified by the Warden; and subsequent annual meetings shall bo called by the chairman, on some date between the loth and the 30th of June in each year. 4. Meetings of the Trustees and of the Committee shall bo held at such times as shall have been determined by resolution of tin; Trustees, but may be called at any time by authority of the chairman, upon giving reasonable notice to the members. 5. At any meeting of the Trustees, live persons, and at any meeting of the Committee, three persons, shall form a quorum ; and the chairman, or acting acting chairman, shall have a casting as well as a deliberate vote. (5. The Trustees shall keep an account at some bank, which shall be styled “The No. 2 Sludge-channel Account,” and proper books of account shall be regularly kept and audited, and a balancesheet submitted to the annual meeting. All foes and moneys received shall be paid to the said account at the bank. 7. The fee payable for the use of the channel shall be at the rate of ten shillings per weel: fur eacli man working in a claim connected with the channel ; and four hunrs’ use of the channel for sluicing shall bo considered to be equivalent to mie day. The rate of fees payable shall not be altered, except upon a resolution passed a: an annual or extraordinary meeting of the Trustees. 8.
