FUNERAL OF THE LATE WARDEN KENRICK.
The remains of the late Warden Kenrick, were removed from Auckland, where he died, to the Thames, for interment, and the correspondent of the Auckland Herald at the Thames reports that the funeral was the most imposing and probably the largest ever seen in the district. The cortege numbered about a thousand persons. First came the Volunteers, headed by the band, about 130; then the hearse, followed by three carriages containing the relatives of deceased and officials of the Courts; next the justices of the peace and lawyers, Mr Miller and Mr Lush representing the Law Society ; four coaches with borough and county councillors; then the police, and next, forty representative miners and thirty Maoris. Following these were about six hundred persons four deep; forty scholars of the Kauaeranga School brought up the rear. All the busiuess premises and hotels were closed. All the out-districts were represented.
