The rowing match between Beach, of Sydney, and Wallace Ross, of America, for the sculling championship and £IOOO takes place on Saturday, September 25th. (Received August 11, 1.15 p.m.) Evening, Kemp has retired from the sculling sweepstakes, which takes place on the Thames on the 30th inst. London, August 9. The Australian cricketers commenced a match to-day at Birmingham against eleven of Warwickshire. The weather was splendid, and there was a large attendance. The visitors went in first and scored 107. The Horae team followed with 70. When the stumps were drawn for the day, the Australians in their second innings had three wickets down for 35 runs. August 10. The following day’s match Australians v. Warwickshire could not be resumed to-day, owing to heavy rain, and has now been abandoned.
