The strikers in the employ of Robinsons having refused to submit their dispute to arbitration, forty-six local iron masters have resolved upon a lock-out. Arrived, this evening, the steamship Waibora, from the Bluff. (Received August 5, 9 p.m.) Adelaide, August 5. Arrived, this morning, the Orient Company’s steamship Liguria, with English mails to July 2nd. Sydney, August 5, Arrived, this morning, the Hauroto, from Wellington. Sailed, this afternoon, the Tarawera, for Auckland. In the Legislative Assembly the hostile motion tabled by Sir Henry Parkea relative to the tariff proposals of the Government came up for discussion on the third reading of the Customs Bill. After an animated debate, the motion was rejected by 42 to 21. The Seameu’s Union are opposing the demand of the shipowners for a reduction of wages.
