Captain Webber and Mr Fotheringham, third officer of the Ly-ee-moon, have been remanded for a week, charged with feloniously killing in connection with the wreck of thu vessel. (Received May 9,2 p.m.) Melbourne, June 8. Sailed, this afternoon, the steamship Tarawera, for New Zealand. (Received June 9, 12.45 p.m.) June 9. The Argus this morning publishes a telegram from its West Australian correspondent announcing that at present 70 men are employed at Kiroberley all at surface working, and tbey have all obtained more or less gold. The Victorian Government has instructed Graham Berry, Agent-Gen-eral in London, to ask Lord Granville, Secretary of State for the Colonies, to obtain from France the assurance that she does not intend to annex New Hebrides. [Per s.s. Rotomahana at Auckland.] Sydney, May 28. Several large steamers have been laid on for Kimberley. Lord Carrington visited the Victoria yesterday, previous to her departure, and inspected all the arrangements. A large number of persons are leaving here for the new goldtield. The death is announced of the Hon W. B. Sutter. A small quantity of rain has fallen in the country, and the prospects are somewhat brighter. Mr M'Elhoue is spoken of as a probable candidate for a vacancy in- the Assembly.
